She worked as part of the accreditation team for the SCU Bachelor of Midwifery 2023 curriculum development and implementation process. She worked collaboratively with external and key stakeholders to ensure successful curriculum accreditation with ANMAC. She is currently teaching and developing online teaching and learning activities for the undergraduate midwifery program. She is the unit assessor for MIDW1006 Midwifery Professional Experience 1 (a first year, clinical unit of study), MIDW2009 Care of the Unwell Baby (a second-year midwifery unit of study), and MIDW3010 Midwifery Practice: Mentorship B (a third-year unit of study). This involves ensuring the unit learning objectives align with lecture content and teaching resources engage student learning to ensure student success and improve student experience. She chair marking reliability meetings, schedule, and facilitate simulation laboratory sessions, and manage student expectations and needs related to their unit’s requirements. She is also lead internal and external research projects aligned with best practice student education and transition to new graduate practice as a health care professional. She work collaboratively on interdisciplinary and research projects and publications with industry partners and universities nationally.

Caterina Balenzano, PhD, is Associate Professor of General Sociology. Her research activity focuses on the evaluation of social policies; in particular, you are interested in evidence-based planning and outcome evaluation of programs aimed at minors and vulnerable families. The main research interests concern family custody and the adoption of minors out of family; the effectiveness of psychosocial rehabilitation and social inclusion models; educational poverty and programs to combat drop-out; the needs of multi-problem families, family friendly policies and social services aimed at the community.
