Introduction

In the long history and reality, people have long recognized the critical role of labor in society and life. They also know that labor education has strong practicality in talent training and helps students cultivate good qualities [1]. Because labor education includes not only education for manual labor but also education for mental labor; education for both material and spiritual productive labor; and education for both honest and creative labor, it cannot be generalized [2,3]. Labor education has the comprehensive value of nurturing morality, intelligence, physical fitness and aesthetics, which is an important means to promote the all-round development of students, a practical activity to guide people to return to their own nature, and an effective way to cultivate and practice the core socialist values [4]. Labor education has an irreplaceable role in the cultivation of all-round development of talents, and it is an indispensable way to enhance postgraduates’ professional love, the ability to transform science and reality, and to improve the comprehensive quality of high-level talents.

General status of postgraduate labor education in forestry

The forestry industry is a tough industry, with a long production cycle and relatively slow results and benefits. Practitioners need to be persistent. However, with the development of society, the comfortable and convenient life has led many students to study this tough and slow-producing profession just for the sake of a diploma, and there are problems such as drifting learning emotions and weak awareness. Because of the stubborn disease of thought, leading to learning inefficiency, active learning becomes passive, theoretical knowledge is not solid. Whereas postgraduate students have experienced a period of low involvement in labor education at undergraduate level, there is a period of easing into postgraduate studies and a phase of ideological change. Postgraduate labor education is not well researched at present, and most of it is a continuation of the undergraduate labor education model and is therefore in need of improvement.

Measures to improve labor education for forestry postgraduates

Combined with the needs of the new agricultural science, in the process of labor education, make students feel that the progress of science and technology, social development, policy support is promoting the rapid development of forestry, forestry postgraduates have great potential, so as to cultivate the students’ professional sentiment of ‘knowing and loving forests. Applying professional knowledge to solve practical problems in the implementation of extended postgraduate labor education greatly enhances students’ ability to translate theory into practice. Strengthening of the body through cultivation and reading and in the process of working in the fields. The core function of the programme is to enhance the beauty of the soul through volunteer service and to transform the ecological environment through labor.

The all-round implementation of labor education for forestry postgraduates is carried out in three aspects: the establishment of a labor education curriculum system, the formation of an extended labor education block and the construction of a labor education information resource base. Formation of a team of teachers specializing in labor education to impart theoretical knowledge on labor education, including the connotation of labor, the nature of labor, the significance of labor, the importance of labor, the spirit of labor, the value of labor, and Marxist labor values. Extended labor education through theoretical practice in professional courses, dual-creation projects, dual-creation competitions, industryacademia- research practices, work-study and volunteer services, etc. Using online platforms to disseminate notices related to labor education, including extended labor education blocks available to students, sharing of successful cases of labor education and their interpretation, as well as theories, practical explanations, special lectures, and micro-lesson videos related to labor education.

Improve the evaluation system of the effect of postgraduate labor education. In addition to the regular course assessment credits, we can also refer to the results of extended labor education, such as projects, competition awards, enterprise evaluation, feedback from service recipients, etc., and optimize the evaluation of the teaching team in combination with supervision and student evaluation.

Prospects for postgraduate labor education in forestry

The organic integration of labor education and occupational therapy for college students, which can help them adapt to social functioning, increase their confidence in facing environmental challenges, enhance their social adjustment, strengthen their selfidentity, and promote the normalization of social life [5]. Compared to undergraduate students, graduate students have more time to engage in farming and reading, especially in forestry research which requires a long period of transformation. Graduate students have relatively flexible learning time and can connect fragmented time to achieve expanded labor education in forestry. Through the expansion of online and offline labor education, innovative thinking will be enhanced while practicing, forming one’s own research field. When they enter the workforce, they will also handle various practical problems with ease.
