Dr. Xiaohu Yang is a Professor and Vice Dean of the Department of Architecture, Xi’an Jiaotong University. He has rich research interests covering the broad range of transport phenomena in porous media, thermal energy storage system, solar-driven cold and heat storage for energy-saving buildings, 4E analysis for energy system. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed journal papers (H-index: 45, citations > 7200) and more than 100 international/national conference proceeding papers. Osama Mohammed Elmardi was born in Atbara, Sudan in 1966. He received his diploma degree in mechanical engineering from Mechanical Engineering College, Atbara, Sudan in 1990. He also received a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from Sudan University of science and technology – Faculty of engineering in 1998, and a master degree in solid mechanics from Nile valley university (Atbara, Sudan) in 2003 and a Phd degree in structural analysis of laminated composites in 2017.

As a professor of industrial engineering, currently Dr. Rabiul Ahasan is teaching undergraduate courses and supervising graduate students’ interns at King Saud University. In the past few years, he has focused on human factors issues and ergonomic application in various industrial settings. He has served roughly on twenty conferences and workshop program committees. As a docent, he is affiliated with Oulu University (Finland) and working as an adjunct professor at American International University (Bangladesh). Dr. Ahasan has presented research papers and published numerous scientific articles, and achieved more than twenty grants for his career research. After working on the application of Artificial intelligence techniques (machine learning, expert system, knowledge acquisition, Case-based reasoning, Ontologies, etc.) to the analysis of railway safety, his work is currently focuses on assessing and preventing risks of accidents, the integration of human factors in the analysis and assessment of rail safety and finally the French and European standards, legislation and regulations on railway safety. In addition to his research activities, Habib Hadj-Mabrouk contributed expertise to the certification of railway transport systems in France. In 2004 he was designated “Expert evaluator” with the organization for rail transport certification CERTIFER. Alongside his research and expertise activities, Habib Hadj-Mabrouk has contributed to teaching (Associate Professor) in several universities and engineering schools in France and abroad. Liming Li is an Associate Research Scientist majoring in Geotechnical, Geo-environmental and Earthquake Engineering, and is the Manager of Centrifuge Research Center, Robert A. W. Carleton Strength of Materials Laboratory of the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, Columbia University. He obtained his bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University, China, and his masters and doctoral degrees from Osaka City University, Japan. After completing his doctoral research on earth pressure and deformation of buried flexible pipelines - a typical soil-structure interaction problem, he joined Kiso-Jiban Consultants Co., Ltd. and then Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. as a consulting engineer, and was doing research projects and consulting services in the fields of geotechnical, geo-environmental and earthquake engineering for 11 years in Japan. Together with his thesis research in Osaka City University, Dr. Li has basically 20 more years of practical engineering experience in laboratory testing, centrifuge modeling techniques, structural analysis and engineering management. He joined Columbia University in 2007.

Susheng Tan received his M.S. in 1994 and Ph.D. in 1999 from the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his B.S. in 1987 from Jiangxi Normal University, China. From 1999 Dr. Tan spent three years conducting postdoctoral research on nanomechanics and nanotribology of soft materials by scanning probe microscopy in University of Minnesota. In 2002 he took a Laboratory Manager position in Oklahoma State University overseeing the operations of its Scanning Probe Microscopy Lab and the OSU Microscopy Lab as a Materials Microscopist. Dr. Tan joined the team of Petersen Institute of NanoScience and Engineering (PINSE) in University of Pittsburgh in 2009. He is currently a Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Tans research interest is in the interdisciplinary field of nanostructured materials, especially with focus on the development and application of advanced microscopic and spectroscopic techniques in characterization of soft and solid-state materials and devices, especially at the nano-scale. The goal is to understand the structure-property relationship of those nanostructured materials using transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), wavelength dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning probe microscopy, nanoindentation, etc. He maintains professional affiliations in ACS, APS, and MSA. Dr. Tan has (co)authored over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He often presented his research at national scientific conferences and universities.

M. Affan Badar is a tenured professor in the Applied Engineering & Technology Management department at Indiana State University (ISU), USA . While on leave from ISU from Sep 2016 until Aug 2018, he was professor and chair of the Industrial Engineering & Engineering Management department at University of Sharjah (UAE). He was director/co-director of the Center for Systems Modeling and Simulation at ISU from 2004 to 2014. Dr. Badar earned a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering (IE) from Univ of Oklahoma (USA) in 2002, MS in Mechanical Engineering (ME) from King Fahd U of Petroleum and Minerals (Saudi Arabia) in 1993, and MSc in IE in 1990 and BSc (Hons) in ME in 1988 from Aligarh Muslim U (India). He was a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 and Epsilon Pi Tau Warner Professional Practice Award in 2015. Dr. Badar has published over 60 articles in refereed journals and proceedings in the areas of lean manufacturing, Design, Reliability, Quality, Engineering economy, and Coordinate Metrology. Anita is a chartered chemical engineer and has been a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers since 1989. She was the first woman to chair its professional standards committee and to be elected to its Council. She has an MBA in international business and a PhD in the field of worker engagement in health and safety management in the construction industry. She worked for 25+ years in the water industry in roles from process engineering and project management to strategy, sales and marketing. Her last corporate role was in the electronics industry, at board level with responsibility for Motorola UK environment, health and safety management. She later became an environmental, health and safety consultant and carried out research for both public and private sector clients on sustainability and EHS management matters. Anita is currently Assistant Head of Department for Sustainable Environments and Communities at Glasgow Caledonian University, having been a full-time lecturer and senior lecturer for the last ten years within the school of Engineering and Built Environment. She teaches water resource engineering, as well as a range of environmental, water and climate justice topics. Her main research areas are in the fields of water resource engineering and management, flood management, and water access and community engagement in the developing world. She is a Certified Member of the Association of Learning Technologies and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Anita is currently director of studies for three students investigating water issues in Nigeria, a professional doctorate student of public sector strategy and is second supervisor for three students researching water, waste management and climate justice topics.

Prof. Salvatore Leonardiwas born in Catania on 05.30.1970, he received a classical education. In October 1994, he graduated with honors in Civil Engineering (Transportation address) at the Faculty of Engineering of the Catania University. In March 2000, he received the title of Ph.D. in Maintenance and Reinforcement of road network. In May 2001, he won the competition for the Researcher at the Catania University. Since January 2011 he is Associate Professor in the scientific field ICAR04 (Roads, Railroads, Airports). Marinella Scarpante, called Sonia, was born in Milan in 1958. After the scientific diploma she got her Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture at Politecnico University in Milan and a further specialization in Design and Interior Architecture. In 2003, after an oncologic illness, she published her first book, an autobiography titled: LETTERE AD UN INTERLOCUTORE REALE. IL MIO SENSO and then the second one MI STO AIUTANDO, with preface of Dr. U. Veronesi, the famous oncologist, and one other UN FIORE NELLA MIA ANIMA with preface of Dr. Cinieri. She wrote also a book of short stories Allombra del Vesuvio, published in 2008, and two poems collections LE TRACCE and LE DIMENSIONI PERDUTE with preface of Father Bartolomeo Sorge. She is president of the Association LA CURA DI SE, she contributes also to sociological magazines and takes part in national meetings with subject Writing and care of oneself. She took part in the cultural association LE GRIOTS, an acting company of women who had suffered from cancer, who wanted to be an encouragement to the oncological patients particularly, with a specific connection with their own experience. Their first theatrical representation E ANCORA DANZO LA VITA opened the first meeting, concerning the therapeutic education, in Budapest in 2007. She works as Counselor Trainer and as a teacher in Writing courses, always as partner of her Association La cura di se. These courses are kept also in hospitals.

After that, Dr. Dong joined the Physical Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory of the University of Oxford as a Visiting Professor, Kansas State University as Postdoc Fellow, the National Autonomous University of Mexico as Visiting Professor, the Mexican Institute of Petroleum as Postdoc Fellow and Distinguished Visiting Professor, and the Superior School of Physics and Mathematics, National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) as full time Professor through the program of excellent position, and he has a permanent position as Professor at IPN since 2007. Dr. Kwong received his MSc degree in Advanced Manufacturing Systems from the University of Nottingham, UK and his PhD degree from the University of Warwick, UK. He worked in manufacturing industry for seven years in the areas of product development and tool design. Then, he joined The Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a lecturer and currently is an Associate Professor in Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of the University. His research areas include new product development, product family design, product line design, integrated product design, design for manufacture, and computational intelligence for design and manufacture. Dr. Kwong published over 160 research papers in which more than 110 papers were published in SCI journals. Wei Zhu received his B.S. degree in Maths from Sichuan University, in 1999, his M.S. degree in Control Theory and Control Engineering from Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, in 2004, and his Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics from Sichuan University in 2007. He did Postdoctoral Research at Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences from July 2008 to July 2010. He was a visiting research scholar at Polytechnic Institute of New York University from Aug. 2012 to Aug. 2013. From Jan. 2011, he was a professor at School of Science, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications. He has authored or coauthored about 30 refereed international journal papers, and is a reviewer of several journals. His research interests include multi-agent systems and the stability theory of impulsive differential equations.
