Prof. Costanza Aricò graduated in Civil Hydraulics Engineering at the University of Palermo in July 2000. She obtained the title of PhD in Hydraulic Engineering at the University of Catania in February 2005. From June 2005 to December 2012 she won scholarships and post doctoral research grants at the Department of Civil, Environmental, Aerospace, Materials, University of Palermo and the Research Institute for Hydrogeological Protection – National Research Council (Perugia, Italy). From December 2012 to July 2021 she was fixed-term Lecturer in Hydraulics, Department of Civil, Environmental, Aerospace, Materials, University of Palermo. From July 2020 is Associate Professor of Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics at the Department of Engineering of the University of Palermo

Andreas N. Angelakis holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from the Agricultural University of Athens (1962), a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Davis, USA (1976). He also holds a Master of Science (M.S.) in Soil Science from the University of California, Riverside, USA (1974) and an M.S. in Water Resources from the University of California, Davis, USA (1977). He was awarded the title of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Soil Physics (1981) by the same University. He served as Director at the Agricultural School of Messara, Crete (1964-1973), Water Resources Engineer in the Land Improvement Service of the Ministry of Agriculture (1977-1991) and Researcher-Water Resources Engineer at the National Foundation for Agricultural Research (N.AG.RE.F.), Institute of Crete (1992-1998). He was also an Adjunct Professor at the Technical University of Crete, Chania (1995 -2005) and Technical Consultant of the Hellenic Association of Municipal Water and Sewerage Companies (EDEYA) (1990 -2019). He was President of the European Federation of National Water and Wastewater Services Associations (EUREAU) (2008-2009) and a member of the Board of Directors for 16 years (1993-2009). He also chaired the EUREAU Working Group (WG) on Wastewater Reuse (2001-2007), a member of the International Water Pollution Research Association (IAWPR) from 1980 to 1999 and the International Water Pollution Research Association (IAWPR). Water Quality (IAWQ), WG for Water Recycling and Reuse from 1993 to 1999. In 1999 these International Associations, including the International Water Supply Association (IWSA) and the International Water Quality Association (IAWQ), merged under the umbrella of the International Water Association (IWA). Andreas N. Angelakis has been a member of IWA since 2000. He was president of the IWA Specialist Group (SG) for Water in Ancient Cultures (WAC) (2005 to 2019). In October 2019, he was elected President of the new Joint IWA-IWHA (International Water History Association) SG in Water Resources in Ancient Civilizations (WAC). He was also a member of the IWA Strategic Council (2016 to 2019). He has been honored and accepted awards including the awarding of Honorary Member, Fellow and Distinguished Fellow by IWA (2010, 2012 and 2015, respectively). He is an Honorary Member of the Hellenic Water Association (HWA, 2011). Also, Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (2018) and Honorary Professor of Hubei University, Wuhan, China (2019). Today he collaborates with international IWA members to highlight the timeless principles and practices of hydrotechnology in ancient civilizations and to understand "what and how we could learn from the past". With a growing global awareness of the importance of water and wastewater management in ancient civilizations, IWA SG on WAC has organized more than a dozen international and regional symposia and workshops on hydro-technologies in ancient civilizations over the past decade. He has authored or co-authored more than 550 publications, including articles in reputable international peer-reviewed journals, Greek and English books, book chapters and more, with more than 5,800 Google citations and i10-index 100. He has been invited / participated in more than 200 scientific events with corresponding lectures in Greece and abroad. Finally, he is the editor and member of the editorial boards of many international scientific journals.

Dr. L.M. Pérez is a biotechnologist highly experienced in Environmental Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering, and Microbiology. During the obtention of his Biotechnology Grade at the National University of Rosario (2003, Argentina) he was trained in traditional microbiology techniques and molecular biology methods (e.g., Southern blot, Western blot, agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, PCR, RT-qPCR, etc.). Later in 2007, he completed his PhD at the Institute of Experimental Physiology (IFISE-CONICET) with a fellowship from the Argentine government (ANPCyT and CONICET). During this period (2004-2007) Dr. Pérez completed his training in eukaryotic cells culture techniques, and in the application of several enzymology, biochemistry and general cellular biology techniques. Afterwards, he worked as postdoc fellow at the Laboratory of Sanitary and Environmental Microbiology (2008-2010) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC-campus Terrassa, Barcelona, Spain) under the supervision of Dr. Jordi Morató. During this period, he specialized in the evaluation of constructed wetlands to remove microbial and chemical pollutants from urban and industrial wastewaters, and in the characterization of the wetland microbiota involved in the bioremediation/elimination of pollutants, organic matter, and nutrients. Afterwards, he returned to Argentina as postdoc fellow (2010-2012) of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council of Argentina (CONICET), and later as Research Associate (2012-2017) at the Rosario Chemistry Institute (IQUIRCONICET) under the supervision of Dra. Roxana Verdini. Rafid ALKHADDAR Department of Civil Engineering Liverpool John Moores University , Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) since August 2015. Headed this Department since it was established in September 2015. Oversaw the reaccreditation of the Civil Engineering degrees by the professional accrediting body in 2015 and more recently in February 2018. All degree programmes offered by the Department was reaccredited for another 5 years.6. Employability of students is at 100% for the MEng students and over 95% for the BEng students. This is a reflection of the quality and reputation of the Department in the Industry. I am very active within the Industrial Advisory Board for the Department which I was one of its founding members. It is the most successful and active Industrial Board within the University. The professional body commended the team and its leadership when they accredited the course in February 2018 for the activities of this Board.
