Abstract
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is arguably the most debilitating psychiatric disorder among anxiety disorders. It was first recognized by the American Psychiatric Association in the DSM-III in 1980 [1]. This diagnosis remained relatively stable in subsequent DSMs. The DSM-IV-TR indicated that the estimated prevalence of PTSD in the adult population in community-based samples in the USA Is approximately 8%, making it an important public health problem [2].
